ACR® has prepared a preliminary summary of the 2027 HOPPS proposed rule released by CMS July 2. CMS proposes to increase outpatient hospital payment rates by 2.4%.
Read moreACR® filed comments with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regarding a proposed rule that, among other revisions, would create a new, optional standard general license (SGL) for certain diagnostic uses of byproduct material. The NRC said the option would reduce regulatory burdens and costs as compared to conventional specific licenses by eliminating the need for amendment requests and certain other licensing actions.
ACR said it generally supports easing burdens for medical licensees but noted uncertainty about how the SGL approach could interact with a separate NRC medical-specific proposed rule that has not yet been published. The College urged the NRC to ensure the flexibility is appropriately limited to facilities meeting existing requirements, including the current Authorized User training and experience criteria for diagnostic uses.
The proposed rule is part of a series of NRC efforts to revise various components of its regulations to meet the requirements of the Trump Administration’s NRC reform executive order.
